EAL/D at Bletchley Park
At Bletchley Park Primary, we take great pride in the rich tapestry of cultures and nationalities that make up our school community. In fact, nearly half of our students speak or hear a language other than English at home. Some of the many language backgrounds represented include Mandarin, Punjabi, Arabic, Dari, and Urdu.
Our dedicated staff ensure that students from non-English speaking backgrounds receive tailored literacy support through our EALD (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) program. From Kindy to Year 6, students work with EALD teachers in small groups or classroom settings to strengthen both oral and written language skills. These lessons are targeted and designed to meet each student’s unique language learning needs.
Where appropriate, students are placed on the Progress Map to formally track and report on their development in English language proficiency.
We also regularly engage interpreters to assist families during enrolments and parent-teacher discussions, ensuring everyone feels informed and connected. This support is always available we warmly welcome your questions and involvement.
If you’d like more information about the EALD program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our EALD coordinator.
