Language at BPPS

Lorna

Language (Indonesian)

Students in Year 3 to Year 6 study Indonesian for one hour a week. The focus is on speaking, listening, reading and writing in Indonesian, as well as learning about the culture and geography of one of our closest neighbours.

We use online resources, books, games, stories, songs and art to support student learning.

In 2025, we are lucky to have Pak Reiwind, the Indonesian Language Assistant work in the school one day a week for the whole year. He will work on a different day each term so that all classes have an opportunity to interact and learn from him.

Our main event each year is Harmony Week in March when we celebrate the diversity at BPPS with an incursion, assembly and national dress picnic.

You are welcome to visit the Indonesian class in LA 20 and if you are heading to Bali you might like to borrow a phrase book or information pamphlet.

You can support your child at home by downloading the Languages Online app for Indonesian.

I’m looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
