Community Health Nurses in primary school

Primary schools are visited regularly throughout the year, with the aim of promoting healthy development and wellbeing so students may reach their full potential. A major part of the work is focused on early intervention and the School Entry Health Assessment program.

Community Nurses serve as a health contact point for children and their families, providing information, assessment, health counselling and referral. The services provided are free and confidential.

Services include

  • Health and development assessments and surveillance (e.g. vision, hearing, growth)
  • parenting information and advice
  • Referral to other health services (e.g. Child Development Service, GP)

If you have a concern about your child’s health or development, please make contact on 9258 8053.
